This is my individual portion of a larger masterplanning studio project for Atlantic City. Along the coast of Atlantic City, this design for a dual-level Boardwalk would be connected to the other interventions proposed by the rest of my group. The whole of its length, the overhanging portion of the Boardwalk will have grating to prevent access to the underside while providing a stormwater detention basin that can mitigate the impact of storm surge out of the Atlantic long enough for the other systems to fully absorb the floods. The grating will prevent debris from settling underneath the Boardwalk, and prevent significant damage to the underside. In some places, this also becomes an opportunity for additional living shoreline interventions, with the overhang serving as a viewing platform for visitors. I designed access to this overhang to have 5 modular typologies, which together would form the new Boardwalk.
